Empowering Rural Farmers for Sustainable Development
Empowering Rural Farmers for Sustainable Development
The Life Development Relief Organization (LIDRO) is excited to share our project proposal for Empowering Rural Farmers for Sustainable Development. This project is designed to tackle challenges like poverty, gender inequalities, and lack of mechanization in Liberia’s agricultural sector, where women make up a significant portion of the workforce.
Our Mission and Vision
Our Mission is to empower the disadvantaged and those in need so they can sustain themselves. Our Vision is to achieve a society where the gap is bridged and sustainability is promoted.
Project Goals and Beneficiaries
The core objectives of this 6-month initiative (February 2025 – July 2025) are:
* Training at least 600 farmers on food crops production.
* Empowering more local farmers and raising awareness on Women Empowerment.
* Helping more farmers gain modern farming skills.
* Establishing Village Savings and Loans in all six beneficiary towns.
* Seeing the Rural Farmers sustaining themselves.
We are targeting a total of 600 beneficiaries across 6 towns/villages. Our target demographics are:
* Targeted women: 60%
* Targeted youth: 30%
* Targeted elders: 10%
Our Comprehensive Solution
Our project is structured around three key areas:
1. Crops Farming: We will provide training on modernized farming practices, covering both substance and commercial farming, to increase crop yield and contribute to economic recovery.
2. Mechanization and Market Linkage: LIDRO will act as the link, connecting local farmers to processers (including industries/factories) to transform raw crops into finished products upon harvest. These finished food crops will also be returned to the communities for consumption.
3. Village Savings and Loan (VS&L): To ensure long-term sustainability, we’ll introduce a new strategic component: Disbursing 0% Loans for Local Farmers. This will help farmers continue their activities and sustain the project beyond the initial timeline.
